A full bodied, sweet, warming 7.4% Scottish ale

The ‘shilling’ once denoted the strength of Scottish beers the stronger the more expensive they were and '90/-' indicates the style, ‘Heavy’, a strong, rich, malty, brew. It’s a traditional style of strong ale, typical of the East of Scotland, and Belhaven 90/- is a true classic with a chestnut brown hue and light bronze foam.

Black malt gives roast aroma and taste and the Pale malt contributes a sweet biscuity note. Delicious cane sugar and caramel adds more sweetness. At 7.4% abv this beer is very full bodied, sweet and warming. Challenger hops give a fresh dry hop character and moderate bitterness and the Goldings adds a more aromatic and spicy note giving quite a complex beer. Sip slowly to fully appreciate this complex character.

This delicious beer has been announced as the Silver Winner at the Monde Selection 2022 Awards.
