Scotch and soda is a classic
combination and one of the oldest Scotch whisky classics.
The combination of whisky and
soda water is called a whisky highball, and the concept of drinking whisky with
soda came about in the 19th century when carbonated water became more readily
available. The tiny bubbles and neutral flavour make soda a great mixer for
whisky, while the long highball drink format with lots of ice is incredibly
refreshing.
The Whisky Highball is an
incredibly easy cocktail recipe but adding a garnish can add your own twist on
a classic. Citrus zests add a fresh touch, while berries and peaches will
please a sweet tooth.

WHISKY COCKTAIL RECIPE TIP
While stirring the Scotch and soda together mixes the drink, make sure to not overmix the highball as this can cause it to lose its fizz.
