Ouzo of Plomari is a truly unique and delicious spirit that has been enjoyed by the Greeks for generations. It's produced on the island of Lesbos in the town of Plomari, which is widely considered to be the birthplace of ouzo. This particular ouzo is made from the by-products of grapes after they're been used for wine-making, such as the skins and stems, and it is then distilled with herbs and other ingredients including star anise. Ouzo is a Greek anise-flavored liqueur that is produced from distilling the grape must.

The unique recipe of Ouzo of Plomari contains a multitude of seeds and herbs of Lesbos along with fennel, asteroid anise, cinnamon, nutmeg, and mastic extracts. The production of Ouzo of Plomari Isidoros Arvanitis is a true ritual. The distillation occurs in exactly the same traditional way since 1894, in small handmade copper stills which are made by the same family of coppersmiths to this day. Ouzo of Plomari is double distilled, with each distillation lasting for nine hours, since, like they say “the slower the process, the better the distillate”. Hence, Ouzo of Plomari attains a high-quality result, an ideal balance of flavour and taste, and a soft refined texture.
