Sarget Gruaud Larose 2018 is a red wine from the Saint-Julien appellation, made from a blend of Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Petit Verdot. This wine has a beautiful intense purple color, reflecting the concentration and richness of its aromas. This round and charming 2018 vintage with an aromatic finish will only improve over the years. 

TASTING NOTES: On the nose, Sarget Gruaud Larose 2018 reveals complex notes of ripe black fruits such as black cherry, blackcurrant and blackberry, accompanied by subtle notes of vanilla, liquorice and tobacco. On the palate it is powerful and velvety, with a silky texture and a well-balanced tannic structure. The black fruit flavors linger on a lingering and elegant finish, with a touch of spice and oak.

Robert Parker - 89  Composed of 49% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc, the deep purple-black colored 2018 Sarget de Gruaud Larose gives up vibrant notions of crushed blueberries, warm plums and chocolate-covered cherries with hints of mocha, spice cake and hoisin plus a waft of potpourri. Medium to full-bodied with a backbone of finely grained tannins and just enough freshness, the palate delivers bags of juicy fruit, finishing spicy. 

Antonio Galloni, Vinous 89  The 2018 Sarget de Gruaud Larose is pliant, fruity and easygoing with lovely depth and plenty of near-term appeal. Sweet tobacco, cedar, lavender and mint add aromatic nuance to a core of blue/purplish berry fruit in a mid-weight, understated Saint-Julien that will drink well right out of the gate. The Sarget benefits from a generous dollop of Petit Verdot, which confers freshness. The blend is 49% Merlot, 39% Cabernet Sauvignon, 11% Petit Verdot and 1% Cabernet Franc. 

James Suckling 91-92  A juicy and fresh red with dark berries and hints of chocolate. Medium to full body, firm and juicy tannins and a flavorful finish. Delicious already.
